All of this is important, but there’s a question that is increasingly significant: what happens with everything that occurs on the website after someone visits it?

Because a website is not just what the user sees. It is also the entry point for a lot of data, interactions, and opportunities that, if well connected with the rest of the business, can have much more value. And this is where the CMS stops being just a tool for editing content and takes on a more strategic role.

What is a CMS?

A CMS, or Content Management System, is, very simply put, the system that allows you to manage a website: creating pages, publishing content, updating texts, working on the blog, or maintaining its structure without having to develop everything from scratch every time.

WordPress is probably the best-known example, but it’s not the only option. Over the years, CMSs have evolved, and some have gone far beyond simple content management, incorporating tools that connect the website with other areas such as marketing, sales, or customer management.

HubSpot is one such case.

HubSpot can also be your website’s CMS

HubSpot is primarily known for its CRM and its marketing and sales tools, but it also allows you to create and manage a complete website from the same ecosystem, through Content Hub.

This means that the website doesn’t necessarily have to be on one platform and HubSpot on another, connected afterwards; instead, they can be part of the same environment. From there, pages, content, blogs, or landing pages, among other elements, can be managed, while maintaining the connection with CRM information and marketing actions.

However, the interesting value is not simply being able to say that “the website is built with HubSpot,” because from the end-user’s perspective, this can be practically invisible.

What matters is what this connection enables.

When the Website Stops Operating Independently

Let’s imagine a very common situation: a person discovers a company through an article, navigates through different pages, returns a few days later, consults a service, and finally fills out a form.

In many digital ecosystems, this journey is distributed among different tools. The website records some data, the analytics tool records others, the form sends information to the CRM, and the sales team finally receives a part of this entire context.

This doesn’t mean it’s a bad system, but it does require building and maintaining different connections for all information to flow correctly.

When the website is part of the same ecosystem as the CRM and marketing tools, this relationship can be much more direct. The information generated by the website is not isolated; instead, it can provide context about a contact’s journey, the content they are interested in, or their current stage.

And this is where the website stops being just a digital storefront and begins to actively participate in the lead generation and conversion process.

More Context, Not Just More Data

Today, almost any company generates digital data. The problem is usually not having too little, but having it scattered across platforms that don’t always share information well.

Therefore, the goal of integration should not be to accumulate even more data, but to give it context.

If marketing can better understand what interests a contact, if sales can see part of the journey they took before reaching a sales conversation, and if CRM information can help make decisions about the website, the different areas stop working with separate views of the same user.

It is not, therefore, just about connecting tools, but about making information flow meaningfully.

The CMS is Part of a Bigger Decision

Therefore, when choosing between HubSpot, WordPress, or any other CMS, the question probably shouldn’t simply be which is better.

The question is what we need the website to do and what role it should play within the business.

There are projects where the website primarily needs good content management and great flexibility. In others, however, the connection with the CRM, automations, campaigns, or commercial processes can carry much more weight.

There is no universal architecture that works for everyone. What does make sense is to think of the website not as an independent piece, but as part of a broader digital ecosystem.

Connect Before Accumulating

Many companies have added tools as new needs arose: one for the website, another for the CRM, one for marketing, and others for analyzing or automating processes. The problem arises when all these pieces work, but don’t quite work together.

This is where an option like HubSpot can make sense, because it allows you to approach the website within a more connected ecosystem from the start. But the most important thing remains the same: to be clear about what needs to be connected, why, and with what objective.

At DMS3 Consulting, we work precisely from this perspective, connecting website, marketing, technology, and business so that each piece makes sense within the whole.

When we think about a website, we often consider its design, content, SEO, or ease of updating.
